A suspended slab structure is generally an expensive one, especially to repair. It is always best to address damaged areas or areas that promote damage quickly.

Concrete is a very tough product, unfortunatly steel doesn't share its resistance to corrosion. Steel in a suspended slab is doing all the work. It is difficult to walk and drive on a web of steel, so concrete provides an excellent surface for this. The downside is concrete cracks easily and unprotected steel is highly susceptable to corrosion. Once corrosion takes place, steel loses its strength and the expansion of the steel from rusting will break the concrete around it.

Neglect of a structure can lead to serious life threatening injuries.
